There are many suburban areas surrounding Dallas with great schools, but if location to central Dallas is important I have to recommend that you check out the Lake Highlands area. Lake Highlands is Dallas city, but Richardson schools, located in north east Dallas. It is a great community to raise a family in the city. There are also parts of far north Dallas that are in the Richardson and Plano schools districts as well.

Collin county has great schools. Plano, Frisco, or Mckinney have some of the best schools in North Texas.
