Located 20 minutes north of downtown in between Carrollton and the suburbs of Richardson, the Addison community experienced tremendous growth throughout the 1980?s and is now a popular choice amongst families and young professionals looking for convenience and a robust job market. Several large companies including Pizza Hut, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Comp USA, and Palm harbor Homes have their national headquarters in Addison, and as a result, well educated professionals are constantly flocking to the area. With hundreds of restaurants, shopping centers, and even its own airport, residents of this Dallas neighborhood has everything they could possibly need right around the corner. As with many of the other Dallas suburbs including Allen, the homes tend to be large, well spread out, a great value, and located in pre-planned communities. While gated neighborhoods are available, Addison?s extremely low crime render them somewhat unnecessary. Some of the major Addison attractions include the Mary Kay Museum which tracks the life of the founder as well as some of the company?s top sales reps. There are also number of shopping areas such as the Galleria Dallas where a you can find high-end stores or just grab a bite to eat. If you are looking for more spacious and affordable living than the major central Dallas neighborhoods, Addison provides a great bang for the buck.



Commute

The commute time from Addison to downtown Dallas could take up to an hour depending on traffic conditions. Luckily, most residents work right in the neighborhood and avoid the daily commute altogether.

Schools

School District: Dallas Independent Schools District

Schools: As is common with many of the suburbs of Dallas, Addison has a high concentration of families and thus local education is extremely important. Most students will be within the Dallas Independent Schools District though a few may come under the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District. Regardless, there are no public schools in the neighborhood, and any kids wishing to attend public school will have to travel outside the community. Should a family choose to send their children to private school, there are several choices in the Addison area including: Addison Private Schools:

  • Trinity Christian Academy (K through 12)
  • Greenhill School (PK through 12)
  • Trinity Christian Schoo (9 through 12)
