Just minutes north of Downtown, Oak Lawn provides more affordable living options than the neighboring Uptown. In addition, you get a little more space for the dollar (both lot size and home square footage), though, the homes, duplexes, and townhomes tend to be a bit older (but with arguably more character). Oak Lawn is known for its artsy flare in otherwise conservative surroundings. There are plenty of amenities in Oak Lawn. A number of great restaurants are scattered throughout the area, and a great Whole Foods for the organic shopper. CommuteOak Lawn is situated only minutes from downtown making the commute for professionals working in downtown ideal. For those who work further north, the Dallas North Tollway is easily accessible to get up to 635 and the Galleria area quickly, though traffic can slow down the commute during rush hour.
